Time management practices

  • Write down your tasks and unload your brain.

Do not rely on your ability to remember things that you intend to do but rather take time to write them done.

If you don’t write, you may easily forget.

In other to achieve this effectively, always have a notepad and a pen or something that you can use to write your ideas as and when they come so that you will not forget them.

In writing your tasks for the day or period, make sure to list them according to priority or importance. It will help you concentrate on the main thing and will not allow you to waste time on unnecessary things.

  • Also, set aside time to plan for every week.

Planning your week before it starts can increase your productivity and also keep you focused.

Sometimes if you do not plan your week, you may end up doing things and going to places that are not necessary for your growth or productivity at the moment.

You also end up helping others accomplish their task for the week while you are left behind.

So, it is necessary to plan your next week and day at the end of every week or day.

  • Learn to say no if the other person’s ideas do not fit your plans or goals for the day or week.

It is not arrogance but if the other person’s requirements don’t match your goals, just say no.

if you want to say yes to everything, you may end up wasting your time with others while your own life will be lacking behind.

  • Always make sure you think and do proper research about what you intend to do.

You need to understand what you are spending your time on.

Your deeds should move you toward your goal/plan.

Know that you might not be the first person to do what you are about to do, so you have to learn from people who have done that before why they fail or why they succeed.

What did they do wrong and what they did do right?

A little thought will save you from rash acts and waste of time.

But in doing so, don’t take too long a time.

In addition,

  • Have time for self-improvement and also self-assessment.

Take a little time to assess yourself at the end of every day or week to know your good habits and improve them.

And also, the habits that are most effective and keep them.

But also, observe negative habits and eliminate them or replace them.

  • Don’t overload yourself with tasks.

If you have urgent matters and important tasks that will take up all your time, then secondary tasks can be postponed until a more favorable time.

You don’t have to become a perfectionist.

Just know that not every problem can be solved.

You can effectively perform a task that is not currently a priority.

In this case, it cannot be said that you are using your time effectively.
